Vocus (the facility managers of Intergrid’s Auckland datacentre) is conducting power maintenance on Tuesday 9th October 2018, from 0:00AM - 6:00AM local time. The works will involve electrical calibration on the A-feed power system at the Vocus Albany datacentre. Facility management have advised that for the works to be completed safely and effectively, it is necessary to disable both the mains power and generator backup power system. This means that there is heightened potential for an outage to the A-feed power system that could impact the electrical supply to Intergrid's rack space.
The datacentre operator has prepared a solution to provide continued electricity to the A-feed power system during the electrical work. The datacentre has worked on this solution with their electricians, UPS contractors and generator consultants for several months. However, they have advised Intergrid that due to the complexity of the solution, there may nevertheless be an outage to the A-feed in Intergrid’s racks for up to 90 minutes during the 00.00AM to 6.00AM hazard window.
Intergrid's core network and the majority of customer equipment is dual-corded to both A and B feeds for redundancy in events such as this. As such, no impact to these systems is expected, and this is a hazard notice only for the majority of customers.
However, approximately 5% of Auckland dedicated servers are single-corded and may be impacted. These customers have been contacted with individual hazard notices.
Updates will be posted on status.intergrid.com.au as required during the maintenance period. If you have any further questions regarding this maintenance, please contact the Intergrid's Service Desk at firstname.lastname@example.org
