Following a service degradation incident impacting several customers on the 10th of April, network technicians will be upgrading and replacing core switches on our SY4 network. During the works, switching equipment susceptible to a vendor firmware bug will be replaced.
This is a hazard notice only. Upgrades will be carried out on one core switch at a time. Due to the redundancy of the SY4 core network, no customer impact is expected. However, customers are advised that the Sydney network will be running with reduced redundancy and capacity during the works. There may be a 3 to 5 minute period of minor packet loss and/or service degradation while routes re-converge to the new equipment.
